what we do,
Here you will find an outline of our Initiative
What we do
We are establishing yearly awards for creative and courageous politicians in Europe. We are also assembling a jury of one thousand European citizens to decide who should win these awards.
Why we are doing this
We see an imminent threat to our European society as citizens are losing trust in politics. We are already witnessing terrible consequences in almost every European country. This is why we need politics in Europe to improve. With the Innovation in Politics awards we identify innovative political projects all over Europe and present them to a wider public, so that they can serve as a source of inspiration for others.
In the long run
By awarding prizes for innovative political work we also acknowledge the politicians who carry it out. We will continue to support those politicians in the long term, because they are the ones we want to gain more influence.
How the awards work
The Innovation in Politics awards will be presented in nine categories: quality of life, freedom, prosperity, jobs, ecology, civilisation, democracy, human rights, and community. besides the core criterion of “breaking new ground, being innovative”, five other criteria apply to all nominated projects: building bridges, building trust, participation, sustainability and financial viability.
Schedule of for the awards
All finalists, their political peers, jurors, partners, journalists, special guests and members of the general public will gather at the first awards ceremony in Vienna on 6 December 2017.
How you can get involved
You are welcome to join us in our efforts. We offer several forms of participation: nominate innovative political projects you know of; become one of the 1,000 jurors; submit your own project; help us spread the word; or support the initiative as a donor or sponsor.
Who we are
We are a group of private European citizens – non-partisan, but politically aware. To reach our goals we have founded the Innovation in Politics Institute. We have established a Europe-wide organisation together with fellow Europeans from a broad political spectrum.
Where we are
Our initiative is europe-wide. In 2017 – our first year of operation – we will focus our resources on eight European countries: Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden and the UK. Our country representatives provide information and support in these states in the local language. Citizens and politicians from all other European countries are, of course, invited to participate as well.
