At the end of October, Linz successfully hosted its first re_use Linz Congress, organised by The Innovation in Politics Institute. This marked a milestone in the city’s journey toward climate neutrality by 2040.
The event, an initiative of the City of Linz, together with LINZ AG, STRABAG, and Swietelsky, and supported by PORR, ÖGNI – Austrian Sustainable Building Council, and Wohlschlager & Redl, focused on circular economy solutions within construction, real estate, and waste management to foster sustainable urban development. Held at the Lentos Kunstmuseum, the Congress featured engaging panels, workshops, and practical case studies that highlighted innovative approaches to materials reuse, waste minimisation, and recycling.
Notable speakers included Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kerstin Kuchta of the Institute for Circular Resource Engineering and Management and Mag. Peter Engert, Managing Director of ÖGNI, both of whom shared insights on achieving sustainable goals through circular resource practices.
“The re_use Linz Congress has proven how collaborative efforts can transform cities through practical and forward-looking solutions. Together, we are setting the stage for a sustainable future for Linz.” Martina Fürrutter, Head of Advisory at The Innovation in Politics Institute.
