Manresa Il·lumina Business Energy Community brings together companies in the Bufalvent industrial estate to implement a collaborative solar energy model, promoting local generation, reducing costs, and enhancing business resilience.
ESTABLISHING A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY COMMUNITY
Manresa Il·lumina Business Energy Community, led by the Bufalvent Business Association, unites companies in the Bufalvent industrial estate to establish a cooperative, sustainable energy model. The initiative promotes open, voluntary participation and democratic control, ensuring that economic, social, and environmental benefits are reinvested locally. By generating and consuming clean solar energy produced on their own rooftops, participating businesses work collectively to reduce reliance on external grids.
LOCAL ENERGY PRODUCTION
Recognising the need for energy transition, the community has installed 1 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity. This shared production model enables local generation and consumption, reducing costs and emissions while increasing the competitiveness of member businesses. By promoting a fairer, more self-sufficient energy system, the initiative strengthens resilience against energy price volatility and enhances the collective economic stability of the industrial estate.
A REPLICABLE MODEL FOR INDUSTRIAL ZONES
Manresa Il·lumina is the first initiative of its kind in the region, positioning the Bufalvent industrial estate as a leader in renewable energy. The project demonstrates how energy communities can foster structural improvements in industrial zones, making them more sustainable and economically viable. Its scalable model offers a blueprint for other industrial areas seeking to transition toward a more efficient, collaborative, and environmentally conscious energy framework.
