How would you describe your journey so far? What is your background, and what sparked your interest in currently working to support political innovation?

I started my first job in Austria in October 2016 by ACTNOW exactly 3 years after my arrival in Austria. Beside my work, I studied Cultural Management at the Postgraduate center of the University of Vienna and developed my skills and Knowledge in the field of office and cultural management. I studied English Literature in Syria and have a great passion for everything related to languages, people, cultures.

I always feel that I am lucky because I have met a lot of kind colleagues and people in my journey. I began working at the Innovation in Politics Institute in April 2020 during the Corona pandemic. The projects and topics the Institute is working on sparked my interest because they are tackling very important topics such as strengthen democracy.

What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important?

I am learning something new everyday, because the moment we stop learning is the moment we start dying and vanishing. I am attending an online course: How is intangible cultural heritage – or ‘living heritage’ – related to sustainable development? I think we all should have a better understanding of the importance of the ‘living heritage’ and do our best to preserve it.

What’s something—big or small—that you’re really good at?

I am good at cooking new recipes. Making different kinds of salads and soups.

What’s your favorite movie?

Legend of 1900, Directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. It is a story of a baby boy, discovered in 1900 on an ocean liner, who grows into a musical prodigy, never setting foot on land.

What gives you hope?

Witnessing or experiencing acts of kindness.
