Wrocław Urban Farm

Wrocław’s Urban Farm integrates sustainable food production with social inclusion, creating a large-scale, professional cultivation model that supplies fresh produce to public nurseries while empowering marginalised individuals.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD PRODUCTION

Wrocław’s Urban Farm is a collaborative initiative involving municipal units, universities, NGOs, and businesses, producing vegetables for 16 public nurseries. The crops are transported by electric car to reduce CO₂ emissions, exemplifying sustainable urban agriculture. It is the first professional farm in Poland dedicated to producing vegetables specifically for city-run nurseries.

SOCIAL INCLUSION THROUGH AGRICULTURE

The farm serves as a socio-professional activation program operated by participants from the Wrocław Integration Center. Twenty individuals at risk of social exclusion work on the farm, gaining valuable skills and increasing their chances of economic independence. The model functions like a business, fulfilling obligations with consistent quality rather than relying on volunteer labor.

EDUCATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Specialists from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences oversee the cultivation methodology to ensure high-quality crops and environmentally responsible practices. Additionally, the dedicated Foundation handles vegetable transportation and processes surplus produce into preserves, reinforcing the farm’s commitment to zero waste and public awareness of sustainable food systems.
