Schooling and educational facilities are potential places for infection when necessary precautions aren’t taken. As education facilities are the places where many people come together, they have been closed in a variety of countries as a response to the pandemic. In many countries, schools continue to be open, which means that the protection of children in educational facilities is of particular importance and guidance on how to safely educate while the Corona-Virus is spreading is needed.
The WHO Guidance Manual for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Schools provides an overview of Key Messages and Actions. Showcasing the main precautions that are necessary to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in school settings. Furthermore, the manual provides clear information on how to mitigate the risk of infection, which can encourage students to become advocates for disease prevention in their surroundings – at home, and in their communities. The World Health Organisation, together with UNICEF and IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross) has published the Guidance Manual in March 2020.
