A remote learning city

Many people spend their time at home surfing the internet. And obviously, the better the quality of the websites and social media sites they visit, the more valuable the information and the less likely they are to be confronted with fake news.

Based on its dedication on being a UN Learning City, the city government of Gdynia as well as its institutions set up an online presence offering learning services for people of all ages. It also offers online sport activities, online psychological advice and theatre performances, and everything is free of charge. As of March 16, every day at 6 pm video documentaries and culture programmes are published and can be watched on Facebook and the Gdynia Kulturalna YouTube channel. Additionally the Department of Family Policy invites people to online meetings with a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a midwife, and various educators. The Senior Activity Center dedicated a Facebook group to ease online interactions for Gdynia’s older citizens and to recommend ways for spending time while the clubs and University of the Third Age are on lockdown. Many more initiatives are currently in the works.
