As children now have to spend most of their time at home, a public broadcaster decided to contribute to parents’ educational efforts as well as to provide target group specific entertainment and news coverage. Thus, it rearranged its morning program to meet the needs of children, and parents.
Children are an important factor in controlling the spread of an infectious disease. As children are multipliers of Covid-19, many governments decided to prohibit children to leave their homes. This poses a great challenge for parents, as well as teachers. The Austrian public broadcasting corporation, ORF, quickly decided to change its morning programming and to broadcast news, a broad set of documentaries and several tutorials appropriate for a young target audience.
