Due to the wide-spread lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic, care staff and families of corona patients who need to stay outside their own region are in desperate need of affordable accommodation. On the other hand, countless hotels have free rooms.
That’s why Mitch Spelten from the booking software developer Mews contacted the hotels in their database which are currently empty and asked them to join a new country-wide platform: the Hotels Helpen Nederland initiative.
Hotels for Helpers offer their rooms at cost price (capped at 25 euros) for healthcare personnel, their relatives and family members of patients suffering from the coronavirus. So far, fourteen hotels in nine cities in The Netherlands have joined and more hotels are registering by the hour.
