In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, hospitals all over the world are overflowing with Covid-19 patients. But the patients are not the only ones suffering. Day by day, medical staff are forced to wear layers of protective gear and masks that painfully dig into their skin.
When his local hospital asked people to help out medics with the pain they endure from wearing protective masks all day, Canadian boy scout Quinn Callander figured out a way to produce ear guards on his 3D printer. They prevent the security straps on surgical masks from rubbing into the back of the ears and head and has been reviewed and approved for use in a clinical setting by the US National Institute of Health.
Quinn donates not only the ear savers themselves but has made the file he is using available to the public. This way people all over the world can make their printers useful and help out their local hospitals as well.
