Artists are often overlooked as a vulnerable group in times of economic crisis. Lockdowns and quarantines during the Covid-19 situation strongly influenced the economy and also had posed a major challenge to artists.
To support artists the Irish Arts Council introduced a special €1 million fund to enable Irish-based professional artists to provide access for the public to new and original art during the period of COVID-19 isolation. The award is open to any individual who can demonstrate a track record of professional practice as an artist regardless of whether they are currently registered with the Arts Council. Also, there are no restrictions on the type or form of art that can be created.
