A fund to support the creation of new artistic work for the public benefit

Artists are often overlooked as a vulnerable group in times of economic crisis. Lockdowns and quarantines during the Covid-19 situation strongly influenced the economy and also had posed a major challenge to artists.

To support artists the Irish Arts Council introduced a special €1 million fund to enable Irish-based professional artists to provide access for the public to new and original art during the period of COVID-19 isolation. The award is open to any individual who can demonstrate a track record of professional practice as an artist regardless of whether they are currently registered with the Arts Council.
