During the lockdown, children and families need to stay at home. This causes not only mental stress but also boredom for children.
To bring fun and distraction to children and to help improve their mental wellbeing during the lockdown, the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity organised a book bus filled with around 1,800 books for children and young people. Volunteer delivery drivers will collect book packages on a regular basis and deliver them to local families known to the Sick Kids hospital. Returned books will be kept on the book bus for 72 hours for infection control before being recirculated.
