During the lockdown, families are not allowed to visit their loved ones in retirement homes. At the same time, children have to stay at home, very often with nothing special to do.
In Wunstorf, Germany a group of residents active in the local community started an initiative for children to paint colourful Easter pictures for senior citizens in retirement homes. A garland was created from the pictures and handed over together with a letter to the residents and staff. The children were given a photo documenting the result of their joint work. With this initiative, children were able to bring a little joy to the residents, ensuring that the absence of visits over Easter was less painful for them.
