FOSTERING NON-PARTISAN POLITICAL CULTURE
Brand New Bundestag (BNB) is based on the vision that Parliament should represent everyone in society. By creating spaces for trans-sectoral networking between different actors, BNB seeks to overcome ideological roadblocks and institutional path dependencies by building bridges between civil society and politics. By fostering a pragmatic, non-partisan political culture, BNB strengthens possibilities for the societal transformations necessary for tackling the great challenges of our time.
FOCUS ON PRAGMATIC COLLABORATION
BNB advocates for future-oriented candidates across the political spectrum, supporting people with progressive ideas in winning internal party nominations by using novel forms of non-partisan, strategic, and pragmatic collaboration. With a cross-party political platform of 35+ MPs within the German Federal Parliament, BNB has already successfully brought seven deputies into political office. BNB’s 500+ volunteers are also actively engaged in shaping a future-fit democracy, working to incorporate the voices of social movements directly into the political decision-making process.
DEVELOPING FUTURE-ORIENTED LEGISLATION
Through all of its activities, BNB contributes to a resilient democratic system that is co-created by MPs and civil society leaders. By bringing together future-oriented forces across the political spectrum, BNB creates low-threshold, non-partisan opportunities for democratic engagement beyond established party structures, particularly for young people and marginalised groups. BNB has also effectively influenced legislation by offering non-partisan statements on key issues, such as the German natural gas subsidisation scheme.
