A data sharing platform for researchers

To support researchers in Europe and around the world in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak, it is imperative to provide them with a platform on which researchers can store and share data and specific datasets. This is crucial because the open sharing of data accelerates research and discovery, allowing for effective responses and solutions.

In a joint effort by the European Commission, the European Bioinformatics Institute of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, the Elixir infrastructure, and the COMPARE project, as well as the EU Member States and other partners, a European Covid-19 Data Platform will be launched. It provides an open, trusted, and scalable European and global environment where researchers can store and share datasets, such as DNA sequences, protein structures, data from pre-clinical research and clinical trials, as well as epidemiological data.
