A volunteer-based government initiative to deal with long-term quarantine

Imposing a nation-wide quarantine to stop the spread of Covid-19 is a great challenge for everyone. Many people cannot deal with the issues that arise from being confined to one’s home.

Lithuania’s National Defense Foundation (NDF) launched an initiative calling for volunteers to assist Lithuanian citizens by safely delivering goods and essential supplies to quarantined persons in the entire country. This is a joint initiative by government institutions and private businesses to increase the effectiveness of public health care and mitigate the negative consequences of quarantine. The Foundation is mandated to perform the following tasks: coordinate volunteer activities throughout the entire territory of the Republic of Lithuania; safely purchase and deliver essential goods, medical supplies, services and other essential assistance (without contact with other people) throughout the territory of the Republic of Lithuania; collect information and transfer it to the responsible services; to assist official bodies as needed and available.

If you want to find out more about the initiative, follow this link.
