Austrian composer livestreams the world premiere of his latest work

On Thursday, April 30th the piece “Corona-Meditation”, which was composed specifically for realisation via the internet, will go live on stage at the styriarte.STUDIO at Palais Attems in Graz. Olga Chepovetsky, a very young exceptional pianist from Riga, will play the work from there, while the young Styrian star Philipp Scheucher will connect from his apartment in Hannover via “Zoom”.

After the first performance by these two, Mathis Huber will have a conversation with Gerd Kühr and Olga Chepovetsky in which the audience will learn about essential thoughts regarding the piece. In a second round of “Corona Meditation”, pianists from all over the world – whether established artists or amateurs – will then join in via Zoom and perform the work together. Each level of skill enables people to participate. For example, one does not have to play the entire piece, but can also limit oneself to a selection of played notes. In order to make these participants experience the performance in sound and vision, a team of technicians and sound engineers will combine the results of all pianists into a live overall picture.
