Around the world, numbers of domestic violence cases are on the rise during coronavirus lockdowns. When extremely strict measures prohibiting citizens from leaving their houses are in place, victims become particularly vulnerable.
Since the number of reported domestic abuse cases are especially high in France, the French Government is putting victims up in hotel rooms and finances pop-up counseling centers in grocery shops so they can seek help while they leave their home to run errands. The government also pledged additional funds to help anti-domestic abuse organisations manage the increased demand for their services.
