Platform to help farmers find harvesters

Travel restrictions meant to slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus are making it difficult for people to take jobs in other countries. This is leading to a shortage of harvesters in many places.

In Germany, a platform has been set-up to connect farmers looking for harvest workers with those looking for a job. Filling these jobs is important for the country’s food security. Among others, the platform addresses people who cannot work in their usual jobs in the current situation.

The platform is called “Das Land hilft” (The country helps) and is an initiative by an organisation of farmers called Maschinenring.
