Production of antiseptics from confiscated ethyl alcohol

In times of crisis, governments often face a shortage of essential resources and necessary medical equipment. During the coronavirus crisis, the growing need for antiseptics is difficult to meet.

To tackle the shortage of antiseptics, the Greek Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Independent Public Revenue Authority decided to use the ethyl alcohol which was confiscated by the Greek Government to produce antiseptics. The disinfectant is then made available to hospitals, health centers and health facilities. The production of the antiseptics is supervised by the Greek Army.
