    Supporting active commuting

    Out of fear of infection, many people prefer using the car over public transport. In densely populated cities, this aggravates the situation for cyclists and pedestrians and increases existing problems of congestion.

    The city of Milan is now planning a massive expansion of cycling and walking space. Widening pavements and creating more streets where pedestrians and cyclists have priority makes active commuting more attractive and allows ample space between people to protect them from infection.

    A website launched by the city administration of Rheinfelden gives its citizens an overview of local support services.

    Helping tourists to maintain physical distancing

    The Swedish island of Gotland hired a group of armored knights to patrol well-visited places in the region to ensure that tourists adhere to physical distancing measures.
