Homeless people are amongst the most vulnerable groups during the pandemic with extremely limited possibilities of physical distancing.
In cooperation with several private companies and state institutions, the city of Bratislava offers homeless people with symptoms or confirmed illness places to spend quarantine. The main goal of this initiative is to provide the homeless with shelter and adequate assistance whilst protecting public health. Health professionals and social workers, as well as a psychiatrist, assist those in quarantine. Additionally, the city has introduced other measures to protect the homeless, such as the distribution of protective equipment and food, the creation of hygienic stations, the regular disinfection of public spaces, and support for NGOs dedicated to helping the homeless.
