SCHOOLS currently limit children's potential
School Gets Going ('Schule im Aufbruch') is a movement in Austria, Germany, and Poland based on the notion that the way schools are run at the moment is preventing children and youth from developing their strengths and abilities. Children should have the possibility to discover and grow their own individual capabilities and potential, rather than fulfilling given curricula or standards.
ESTABLISHING A NEW LEARNING CULTURE
This is a grassroots initiative, supported by a small but effective team, driven and expanded by active members of schools, school authorities, municipalities, regional communities, parent representatives, universities, etc. The initiative aims to enable and encourage students to be enthusiastic and creative by establishing a new learning culture and a different attitude towards the children. It is a platform to encourage schools to transform the way schools are run that creates a network for all of those who share the same vision.
TEN PERCENT OF SCHOOLS ARE ONBOARD ALREADY
In 2019 in Austria, about 10% of schools were already linked to School Gets Going. They are adapting methods and approaches based on the vision – like transforming the teaching and learning culture. Inspired and encouraged by the initiative over the past four years, many schools radically transformed their teaching and learning culture, their programmes, and the organisation of their institution.
We share this common vision of running schools in a way that every single school is respected and every single child can feel its own strengths and competences.
