A hotline for providing vulnerable groups with necessities

Vulnerable groups are often excluded in a digitised world. Sometimes they are not equipped with the pre-conditions to buy necessary supplies online or use the smartphone apps available. During the coronavirus crisis, many governments’ isolation measures strongly affected the elderly and those people with special needs.

To overcome this challenge and to support the elderly, the ones with special needs and those under official quarantine with their grocery shopping, an initiative was founded. Persons in need call a hotline where their order is taken and which then is forwarded to a local supermarket. Volunteers pick up the groceries and deliver them to customers with a note on how to pay (online, via family members, or in person, after the crisis). The Initiative got official support from Mayors of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot.

Find out more about this initiative here.
