Code word for domestic abuse

During the current lockdown measures, some women find themselves confined at home with their abusive partners Many reports suggest that this may increase the intensity of the abuse and make it more difficult for women to report.

In France and in Spain women have been advised to seek help by using a code word. They can go the pharmacy and ask for “mask 19” in case they cannot talk openly. The pharmacy will then contact the police for them.
