Public volunteer programme to support a country’s health structures

The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic places incredible pressure on national health systems and it is likely to get worse. Although ministries strengthen the healthcare systems in every way possible, the pandemic progresses rapidly. The need for additional staff and resources can be met by volunteers. Depending on their qualifications, they can support the country’s health structures to meet growing needs. They can provide specific work and collaborate with regular staff.

Thus, the Greek Ministry of Health set up a volunteer programme for doctors, nurses, paramedics, psychologists, as well as students and retirees with a health or nursing background. Anyone who wishes to offer their services can also take on administrative, technical and any other tasks to support to the health system. Those who are selected receive high-quality training from the department / department manager (e.g. medical, nursing, administrative, technical, etc.) and can start work immediately.
