Tallinn librarians read to children over the phone during lockdown

During a lockdown, parents are under great pressure to provide meaningful activities for their children. Especially for carers with system-relevant jobs, the time they are able to spend with their children is limited.

During the coronavirus crisis, local Estonian librarians offer a free service for children: reading books to them over the phone, Skype or Facebook for 30 minutes at a time. If the reading takes place in the form of a video call, the reader will also show pictures from the book. Also, it is up to the children to select the book they want to listen to. This service comes with no additional costs to the regular phone service fee.
